Barwares is a satellite of Smallwares so it wasn't a stretch to find Taylor tending the warehouse at this sip stop.

His swig sugg was the Eiko Fuji Honkara ($8.00 per glass):

... which was a cold, dry sake that sung with our snackage.

Scallop sashimi ($10.00):

... had a hint of heat mingled in the miso and had a crunch of puffed rice with these plush pucks of shelled seafood.

Brown sugar cured salmon ($9.00):

... were cut into silky slices with little triangles of crisp apple. This migration meat and sin signifier paired pleasingly.

Pancakes ($4.00):

... of pork and kimchee were tahini-topped, international houses of flavorful flappy foodstuffs while a bibimbop-esque somen (13.00):

... was a fried egg flourished, seaweeded, chili kicked bowl of slurpable strings.

It's not exactly shocking that the chow has the same Smallwares finesse. We will have to return to check out their cocktails (and more of their menu) soon.

We spent some time meticulously melting morsels of pod products in our mouths and pondering our pleasure of each permutation as we broke apart bars for the Taste TV Chocolate bar competition.

After working our way through pungent, peppery planks, spiced selections and elegant expressions, we were particularly struck by Escazu's dark goat's milk bar and Forté's Fortunato No. 4:

... and also enjoyed Wild Sweets tasty tablettes:

These nifty nominees widened our window on current cocao creations raising the bean to bar.

We got a half dozen ($4.75) Stumptown Dumplings:

... in chicken, pork and spinach with a mustard and a hoisin dipping sauce. These poultry, pork and Popeye packets were okay, but didn't hit our dim sum spot. A pork bao ($2.00) had more meat than most with a sweet center that also wasn't our thing.

Even though we aren't the target audience for these wares, they seem to have fans plucking up their pasta purses so I'm sure they will do well.

We were pleased with our timing when we heard "86 porchetta" after we had placed our order at the counter at the newly opened Lardo.

To our chafrown, we were approached by a staff member who delivered the news that our porchetta sandwich ($9.00):

... was not going to materialize. We chose to sub it out with the pork belly, cheese and egg ($8.00):

... which got richness relief from a peppery plume of arugula and a piquant punch of capery mayo.

The tuna melt ($8.00):

... was a solid sandwich with fennel, Provolone and peppers, but didn't measure up to the belly-binded bundle.

Dirty fries ($6.00):

... were as good as they were from their cart. We left no evidence of this potato, pork and pepper pile.

They are going to install a giant rotisserie to guard against future porchetta-based disappointment so we will roll back for a ration as well as one of their burgers...

The Laphriog rinse convinced me that I should probably bathe in whisky as I relished my Glasgow ($9.00) at Circa 33.

This whiskey and Carpano Antica trumped the (also delicious) La Louisiane ($9.00) which went with rye and an absinthe rinse.

The ham and egg burger ($10.50):

... and fish and chips ($13.00):

... were homey helpings of belly ballast for our whisky whistle whetters at this fun and funky cocktail corral.

The artwork at Matchbox Lounge:

... may not be to our tastes, but we do admire the gusto of the lingerie laden artwork.

A cooling pint of vortex IPA ($4.50) and a grapefruity paloma ($7.00):

... washed down fish tacos ($11.00):

... and a double patty burger ($11.00):

... which both met the pub grub expectation at this striking station.

Sheep's milk cheeses are among our faves and today's Cheese Store of Beverly Hills subscription box:

... contained a nutty, year-aged Manchego:

... buttery bites of Baigura:

... and a crumbly, walnut leaf-adorned Fogli di Noci:

We luxuriated in this luxe, lactosey loot, sheepishly shaving slices off these wondrous wedges.

Jamison has swung open its park periferied portals:

... with cocktails, a Mediterranean-influenced menu and oveny illumination.

Our "meeting with Sam" was a sparkling whisky and Campari lemonade while the Sazerac was absent with absinthe, but still a stiff sip.

Charcuterie of nduja:

... and an asparagus torchon:

... were nice nibbles before a flatbread:

... (not "pizza" which was a surprising choice with the Italian infused menu) spread with tapenade and topped with tomatoes.

Halibut:

... moistly mingled with mushrooms and peas in a buttressed bundle.

We're looking forward to coming back when they have a chance to smooth out their service and time out their tucker, but this seems like promising place to park.

Bamboo Sushi's new NW outpost looks a lot like the original, the most pronounced difference is the fragrance of waffle cones wafting in from their ice cream shop neighbor, Salt & Straw.

We dug into a selection of sashimi ($50.00):

... which was a tidal wave of striped bass, mackerel, salmon, geoduck, tuna tataki and albacore. These fresh flaps were fine finny foods served with fresh Oregon wasabi.

Salmon and cucumber pressed sushi ($11.00):

... was topped with yuzu tobiko and green onions while a "salmon nation" ($17.00):

... had salmon flesh, eggs and skin in this amalgamation of orange bits.

It's nice to have a NW outpost of this solid sushi shop waffle cone fragrance or not...

Ricky happened to be behind the bar at OX :

...(Portland bartenders get around) where he gave Ox-standing advice about ordering the Dungeness crab bruschetta ($13.00):

... that was avocadoed, radished and cuked for a rich, fresh, crisp and crusty take on acean eats.

Broccoli risotto ($11.00):

... was a bowlio of creamy grain goods with ration of Reggiano in this swell side.

Their halibut ($23.00):

... is a re-orderable dish with its moist middle and flavorful flesh washed down with 2010 Domaine Couet Sauvignon Blanc.

A photo shoot acted as dinner theatre as dinner disappeared...

OX is definitely worthy of it's X's and O's.
